Academics

STEM education develops students' critical thinking skills and provides hands-on learning opportunities for students to explore subjects in ways they may not have had the opportunity in the past. By implementing STEM education in LMSA and its feeder schools, students of all genders and backgrounds have the opportunity to discover a passion for a subject they might not have otherwise. Students learn through inquiry-based and project-based instructional strategies, utilizing the STEM design cycle. Advanced coursework is offered in Advanced Placement class in math, history, English, and science. Students are expected to be able to tell someone what they have learned and be able to demonstrate that learning. Students are expected to participate in Extended Learning Time outside of school and do a minimum of 15 minutes of work per class. Linden-McKinley offers Credentialed Pathways toward graduation in Construction and Agriculture. The Credentialed Pathways are supported by elective options beginning in 7th grade preparing students for the academic rigor of high school. Grade-level STEM elective options are provided to prepare students for relevant industry skills.
